What is the Sacrament of Confirmation?

“Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the ‘sacraments of Christian initiation,’ whose unity must be safeguarded. . .For ‘by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit.  Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.’”  (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1285)

“By this anointing, the confirmand receives the ‘mark,’ the seal of the Holy Spirit.”  (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1295)

Introduction

Here at Our Lady of Hope Parish, we are committed to helping our youth develop in faith and realize the important role they have in the Church of today.  The Our Lady of Hope Confirmation preparation program is a complete, comprehensive, spirit-filled program during which the pastor, teachers and catechists, sponsors, and parents work together to energize the candidates in their faith and to help them recognize the presence of the Holy Spirit among them.

The year of preparation is meant to be a period of spiritual growth and blessings for the candidate.  We thank you for supporting us in our ministry to the parish’s youth.

We can answer any questions you may have about the preparation program.
