RCIA News ‘n Notes

We can learn much from Jesus by the way he approached people and offered them the opportunity to “Come and see”—to come and see how he lived his life and how he proclaimed the good news of God’s love and God’s Kingdom. For example, in St. John’s Gospel, we read the following story/invitation:

Text Box: Shortly after John had baptized Jesus, two of the disciples began to follow
him. When Jesus noticed them, they asked him, “Rabbi, where do you stay?”
“Come and see,” Jesus answered. Later, Philip invited Nathaniel to
come and listen to Jesus but Nathaniel was hesitant and skeptical
about Jesus. But Philip said to him, “Come and see for yourself.”
 ~St. John 1:35-36

Are you someone who, like Philip and Nathaniel, would like to learn more about Jesus and the Catholic faith for yourself?  Our Lady of Hope Parish invites you to consider joining the RCIA, which will begin meeting each Monday beginning September 28.  This class is for:

Persons who wish to join the Catholic Church, or

Unbaptized or baptized Christians who would like to learn about the Catholic Church and possibly receive the Sacraments, or

Adults or high school students who wish to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, or

Catholics who no longer actively practice their faith and wish to take another look at their place in the Church, or

Non-Catholic adults married to a Catholic who would better like to understand the religious practices of their spouse

We will cover a variety of topics.  Each session will consist of prayer and a presentation about what the Catholic Church believes in light of the Holy Scriptures and the Church’s living Tradition.  We will provide time for group discussion on how Our Lord’s teachings apply to our daily living, in addition to explanations of the Church’s customs and practices.  The focus is on developing a personal relationship with Our Lord that gives praise to God and leads to loving service of others.  Although there will be steps along the way asking for a deeper commitment, there will never be pressure on anyone to proceed.

Interested?   Please call Ellen Licavoli at the Parish Office at 586-771-1750 ext. 126 if you would like more information.
